Why should I recover from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea?
Why should you recover from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea? Often it means going against everything you have been thought to believe. It therefore helps to collect your motives behind wanting to recover from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea. By returning to your motivation you will be able to stay committed.
Your day consists of a series of habits. These habits structure our days. During Hypothalamic Amenorrhea recovery we shape new habits. It will feel awkward, perhaps even wrong in the beginning. But eventually your new habits will become the new normal. Finding your “why” is essential when it comes to dare making changes. Your “why” is totally personal—yours will be different than mine. As long as your “why” resonates with you and you can sum it up easily, it will guide you. If you in a given situation faces a choice, "should I eat this?", "should I go on this walk?", return to your why's and ask yourself:
Which of these options will bring me closer to my overall goal?
Let the answer to this question be the compass guiding your choices. In my case the overall goal was regaining my period and heeling my relationship with my body. Below, I have listed some more of my why's and motivations. Being four years recovered, I still return to them every now and then to help me make the right choices.
What do I want to be remembered for?
I want to recover my bone health
I want to be a good example for the next generation, for my children, for myself
I want to have a baby
I want to feel strong
I prioritize health over thinness
I want to feel true freedom
I want to sense libido
I don't want my hands and feet to be constantly frozen
I wanna be less afraid of foods and of gaining weight
I wanna dare to move intuitively. Do I really feel like going on this walk or rather sleep in a bit longer?
Dare to eat when you are hungry! Trust your body.
Wanting my body to look like a past version of myself would be like wanting to erase all of the good things that have happened in between then and now, too.
I’m going to continue looking forward to the future and turning my head towards the present moment, instead of the rear view mirror.
I don't love how my body looks every day...but I love what my body does for me every day
Feeling at peace with food and my body does more for my health than restricting
Adequately fueling your body is an act of self-love
In some cases, getting healthier means resting more
I aim to speak to myself like I would to a young child
Why should I recover from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea? Obviously only you can answer the question. But what I can tell you is that as you recover from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea, the importance of your body and weight is naturally going to lessen as your life becomes richer, more fun and exciting again. It is worth it! I would be glad to help you find freedom in body and soul.
